How We Recycle

We take in loads of shingles mixed with other roofing debris and sort the shingles out. Our Recycled Asphalt Shingle (known as RAS) can be used in the production of hot-mix asphalt to make our roads. Here is the process:

About Shingles

The typical house with an asphalt shingle roof has two to three tonnes of shingles. Most homes have those shingles replaced every 18 to 25 years. Calgary's roofing companies generate 30,000 tonnes of tear-off shingle every year. These shingles represent one of the largest waste streams in the entire city. Diverting asphalt shingles from landfills reduces Calgary's annual waste production by up to 7%, while saving up to 60,000 barrels of oil annually.
